Selangor Mb Presents Names Of New Excos To Sultan Undecided On Reshuffle
The Selangor government has presented the names of candidates to fill two vacant state executive council portfolios to the sultan
Speaking to the press on the first day of the new state legislative assembly sitting today, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah would set a date for the swearing-in
He also said he is undecided on the question of whether to reshuffle the entire exco lineup following the replacing of the two vacated positions
“I haven’t received any inspiration yet, I will announce after I dream tonight,” he quipped during a press conference on the sideline of the state assembly sitting today
The two portfolios were vacated after Selat Klang assemblyperson Abdul Rashid Asari lost the post when his party Bersatu exited the Pakatan Harapan coalition, and when Lembah Jaya assemblyperson Haniza Talha was booted from PKR
Rashid had helmed the tourism and culture, Malay civilisation, and heritage portfolio while Haniza chaired the housing and urban living portfolio
However, Amirudin was coy when asked on whether both posts would be given to PKR
“I am thinking, I think I will (give to PKR),” he said
Haniza lost her state exco post after she was stripped of her PKR membership late last month. Locking of office 'normal procedure'The MB also commented on Haniza’s (photo) complaint at being locked out of her executive councillor office before she had a chance to clear out her things.
However, Amirudin said the locking of the office was part of the regular procedure when a post is vacated
“That is normal... we allow (executive council) officers to take their possessions, but they must be accompanied by officers with the state government institution as some of the assets in the unit belong to the government
“So certain forms must be filled... as it involves confidential documents which we do not wish to be distributed or misused,” the Sungai Tua assemblyperson added
Amirudin claimed Haniza appealed to stay on in her post until Friday, July 10, upon her earlier ouster from PKR in June
It was further alleged that she was informed to meet with government officials on Monday after appealing to be allowed to settle the matter of her office but decided to bring up the issue yesterday “to garner sympathy”
Sementa assemblyperson Dr Daroyah Alwi and Haniza were among PKR leaders aligned to former deputy party president Azmin Ali
Haniza, who was PKR women's wing chief, labelled her sacking as an “act of revenge”. PKR had initiated a disciplinary probe against those known to be aligned with Azmin who led the Sheraton Move in late February which resulted in the collapse of the Harapan federal government
Daroyah quit the party after Haniza's sacking and today resigned as deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly
The former was replaced with Morib assemblyperson Hasnul Baharuddin. - Mkini
