Selangor Invites Bids For Drt Project

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor government has invited interested and qualified companies to participate in its request for proposals for the demand-responsive transit (DRT) project.
Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) said in a statement today that companies had until April 7 to submit proposals, Bernama reported.
A briefing session will be held on March 14, with details available on the Selangor MBI website.
DRT is a flexible transport system that adjusts routes and schedules based on passenger demand, particularly to enhance first and last-mile connectivity to major transport hubs.

Selangor MBI said existing DRT services might experience disruptions as incentives for existing operators had been halted until the official operator was appointed.
“The full implementation (of the DRT) is expected to commence in May 2025,” it said.
“Therefore, consumers are requested to check for any service changes or disruptions through the existing DRT service application to manage their travel plans to their desired destinations.”

“During the period, the use of DRT recorded a total of 73,389 ridership, thus achieving the main target of increasing public awareness of the service.
“The project is expected to meet the demand of residents and visitors in Selangor in realising more efficient and flexible travel at an affordable price,” it said.
On Oct 10, 2023, it was reported that the DRT system would replace the Selangor Smart Bus in high-density areas and narrow lanes.
State investment, trade, and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the system was designed to boost ridership on major public transport services, such as rail and buses. - FMT
