Sabah Bn S Alliances For 17th State Polls Must Reflect People S Needs Salleh
Any alliances formed with BN for the upcoming Sabah polls must reflect the people’s needs above political gains, according to a Sabah BN leader.
Sabah BN treasurer Salleh Said Keruak reportedly said this in reiterating the coalition’s commitment to partner Pakatan Harapan, in line with the federal pact.
“BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin have publicly stated this position.
“At the same time, we acknowledge the importance of engaging with local parties to ensure a strong and cohesive coalition in the state,” he was quoted as saying by FMT today.
“This is why we should emphasise ‘Suka Sama Rakyat’—our alliances must reflect the needs and aspirations of Sabahans, rather than simply being about ‘Suka Sama Suka’ or political convenience,” said the Usukan assemblyperson.
Salleh, a former federal minister, said discussions are ongoing to ensure that BN-Harapan and local partners work together for economic growth, infrastructure development and better opportunities in Sabah.
“Sabah BN will engage with like-minded partners who share our vision for a stronger and more developed Sabah,” he reportedly said.
Last month, Zahid, in his speech at the 34th-anniversary celebration of Sabah Umno, said the party and BN must regain their dominance in Sabah in the upcoming election to drive greater development and progress.
The Umno president also said that to be dominant, BN must win more than the 13 seats it held after the last 16th state election. - Mkini
