Selangor Govt Reshuffle Looms With Or Without Amirudin S Exit
Putrajaya isn’t the only government that will be shaken up following the outcome of the PKR election.
ADSA reshuffle may also take place in the Selangor state government.
Following Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s decision to tender their resignations from the cabinet, speculation is rife that Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari is being eyed for an unspecified federal post.
Such a move could be justified using Rafizi and Nik Nazmi’s own arguments about the composition of ministers reflecting the outcome of the PKR polls.
While Rafizi lost the deputy presidency and Nik Nazmi failed to become a vice-president, Amirudin himself excelled, winning the most votes among the four elected vice-presidents.
However, the Sungai Tua assemblyperson has not shown any inclination towards getting a federal job.
Last year, amid speculation that he would similarly be promoted, Amirudin (above) said he intended to remain as menteri besar until his term ends in 2028.
He cited advice from Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to ensure unity and stability.
Should his plans change, however, there will be a need to replace him as menteri besar.
For this, there are two potential candidates. Amirudin’s likely choice for successor will be Tanjung Sepat assemblyperson Borhan Ahmad Shah, who is his former political aide.
However, another contender will be Seri Setia assemblyperson Fahmi Ngah, who is believed to be closely aligned with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

Seri Setia assemblyperson Fahmi NgahPreviously, after the Selangor state election in 2023, it was rumoured that Fahmi’s name was submitted along with Amirudin for Sultan Sharafuddin to consider as a menteri besar candidate.
Fahmi’s potential rise, however, may hit a roadblock should Amirudin stay as menteri besar.
ADSExpectations are high that Fahmi will be dropped as an executive councillor in Amirudin’s state cabinet, again with the PKR election results being used as a justification.
Despite his supposed close association with the party president, Fahmi was defeated in his bid to become deputy chief of Petaling Jaya PKR.
He also failed to win a spot in the central leadership committee.
MalaysiaGazette reported that among those being considered to replace Fahmi are assemblypersons Azmizam Zaman Huri (Pelabuhan Klang), Izuan Kassim (Kota Damansara), and Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman - better known as Altimet (Lembah Jaya). - Mkini
