Sabah Student Activists Macc Must Probe Claims Against Farhash
Student activists from Sabah want the MACC to probe allegations that a company owned by Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, had received a mineral exploration licence in the state.
Suara Mahasiswa Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) said this is to ascertain whether criminal elements or wrongdoings were involved.
“This new exposé is feared to be connected to the corruption scandal which has rocked the country,” they said, referring to the allegations that multiple Sabah state lawmakers had taken bribes to facilitate the granting of prospecting licences.
Yesterday, MalaysiaNow alleged that Farhash, through his company Bumi Suria Sdn Bhd, had obtained a licence to explore for minerals in the 70,000ha Kalabakan and Gunung Rara forest reserves near the Kalimantan border.
ADSThis is an area almost three times the size of Kuala Lumpur.
Farhash has denied the allegations, as has Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM).

MalaysiaNow then revealed a series of documents, including purported correspondence between Farhash and then SMM CEO Jontih Enggihon last year, which it said proved its allegations.
Sabah mineral prospecting licences are the subject of a massive corruption scandal, after multiple state assemblypersons, including state ministers, were caught on video discussing alleged bribes with businessperson Albert Tei - who later became a whistleblower.
Two Sabah politicians, state assistant minister Andi Suryady Bandy and Qhazanah Sabah chairperson Yusof Yacob, have been charged with taking RM350,000 in bribes from Tei.
Tei has also been charged with giving bribes. - Mkini
