Sabah Returnees Under Quarantine Allowed Limited Visitors
COVID-19 | Questions have been raised as to why a man who was in quarantine after returning from Sabah was allowed guests, following relatives who visited and stayed with him went home with the Covid-19 virus.
According to the Home Assessment Tool issued by the Health Ministry to Sabah returnees, as obtained by Malaysiakini, this is not prohibited.
In the document, the ministry advises those who are wearing pink bands at home to "limit the number of guests and visitors" to their homes.
They are also required to record all visitors they receive.
Other guidelines advise them to wear face masks when leaving their room and to avoid interacting with others.
The documents are referred to as Annex 10a and Annex 10b of the Health Ministry's Covid-19 management guidelines, which are respectively the English and Malay language versions of the Home Assessment Tool.
The current version is last updated on June 11, and is applicable not only to travellers returning from Sabah but also those undergoing home quarantine after being identified as close contact of confirmed Covid-19 patients.
From Sept 27 until Oct 10, all travellers returning from Sabah are required to undergo a Covid-19 test and mandatory quarantine at home until the test results are ready.
Those who test negative are advised to complete a 14-day quarantine period, but this is not mandatory.
Yesterday, the Health Ministry announced the discovery of the Bah Puchong cluster in the Petaling district of Selangor, and the Kinta, Larut, Matang and Selama districts of Perak.
There are five positive cases thus far.
Selangor executive councillor Ng Sze Han said the cluster spread out of Puchong after relatives from Perak visited one of the index patients and stayed with him.
As of noon yesterday, 39 people have been tested in the cluster – 12 in Selangor and 27 in Perak.
Apart from the five cases that have tested positive, the results of the other cases tested are still pending.
