All Sabah Mps To Observe 14 Day Quarantine Before Nov 2 Parliament Sitting
All 26 MPs from Sabah who wish to attend the upcoming Dewan Rakyat sitting starting Nov 2 will have to arrive in Kuala Lumpur by Oct 17.
Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin said the MPs were informed that this was to allow them to observe a 14-day self-quarantine period as advised by the Health Ministry.
"The upcoming Parliament session is important as it will debate Budget 2021 and the 12th Malaysia Plan.
"MPs should not abandon their responsibilities by being absent from the Dewan Rakyat just because of standard operating procedures (SOPs) that appear to be an inconvenience," Chan said in a Facebook post.
He said the MPs were formally informed of the matter through a letter from Dewan Rakyat secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin.

According to the letter, all MPs arriving from Sabah will undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening at the airport and issued with a two-weeks Home Surveillance Order either at their own residence in Kuala Lumpur or a government-approved hotel.
A second test must be conducted on the 13th day before they will be approved for release by Nov 1, one day before the sitting.
The letter further stated that MPs who return to Sabah and come back to KL before the last day of sitting on Dec 15 must undergo the same process once again.
As for Sabah MPs from areas currently under enhanced or conditional movement control orders, special permission to travel must be obtained from the state's Covid-19 disaster management committee.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Oct 6 announced that all interstate travel to and from Sabah will be banned beginning Oct 12 until 25. - Mkini
