Sabah Polls Grs To Announce Candidates On Nov 12
Gabungan Rakyat Sabah will announce its candidates for the 17th Sabah state election on Nov 12, said its chairperson Hajiji Noor.
“We have already distributed the seats. So, if they (DAP and PKR) want to announce theirs, they can do so, and we will make our announcement later. We will announce on Nov 12,” the caretaker Sabah chief minister said.
He said this in a statement after launching the Kuala Penyu District and Menumbok Sub-District Development Strategic Plan 2025–2035 at the Menumbok Town Market site today.
DAP and PKR from Pakatan Harapan are scheduled to announce their respective candidates on Nov 8 and 9.
Earlier, BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was also reported as saying that his party is expected to announce its candidates and constituencies it will be contesting about a week before nomination day.
Nomination is set on Nov 15. Polling is on Nov 29 and early voting on Nov 25.
Continuing development programmes
Meanwhile, Hajiji expressed confidence in GRS’ ability to continue governing the state after the election on Nov 29, based on the strength of its candidates.
“We are fielding only winnable candidates, including in Kuala Penyu - I’ve already given a hint of the candidate earlier, and we are confident of winning this election.
“If we win, we will continue implementing the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 development roadmap for the continuity of development programmes in Sabah,” he said.
DAP eyes 8 seats
Meanwhile, in Tawau, Sabah DAP deputy chairperson Chan Foong Hin said the party will contest eight seats in the election.
He said six of the seats were those won by the party in the 2020 Sabah state election, while the remaining two are the Tanjung Aru seat and another in the interior, which he declined to name.

Sabah DAP deputy chairperson Chan Foong HinChan said this to reporters after officiating a palm oil smallholders’ engagement programme today.
The six seats won by Sabah DAP in the 16th Sabah state election were Luyang, Likas, Kapayan, Elopura, Sri Tanjong, and Tanjung Papat.
