Sabah Mineral Boss Denies Not Disclosing Sponsored Trip

PETALING JAYA: The current CEO of a company embroiled in a corruption investigation involving several assemblymen has denied claims she did not disclose a sponsored trip on a private jet to Indonesia earlier this year.
Natasha Sim, CEO of Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd, also denied that she had misled the board by tampering with the minutes of a meeting, as alleged in a police report lodged in Sabah this evening.
“Based on the unverified information in circulation, I categorically and unequivocally deny all allegations of wrongdoing against me. These are baseless and malicious allegations which appear to be a deliberate attempt intended to injure my character and reputation,” Sim told FMT.
According to the police report, she and her husband are alleged to have gone on a trip on a private jet that also included a timber trader and his two children.
Sim also said she was prepared to be investigated over the matter and had pledged her full cooperation.
FMT is made to understand that Sim has documentary evidence to debunk these claims. It is also learnt that legal action on defamation will be taken against those circulating and publishing the claims.
Earlier this month, SMM had accused the company’s former CEO, Jontih Enggihon, of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and misconduct.
Reports were lodged with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) accusing him of colluding with a purported whistleblower behind video clips alleging corruption involving several Sabah assemblymen.
Sim said Jontih’s alleged wrongdoing was uncovered following a comprehensive internal probe into his affairs while holding the post.
Jontih has denied the allegations and said the claim that he acted as a middleman was a “total lie”.
MACC has summoned five assemblymen so far to provide their statements. - FMT
