Arau Mp Not The Only One Who Met Me To Woo Bn Out Of Govt Zahid

BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has revealed that Arau MP Shahidan Kassim was among Perikatan Nasional lawmakers who had met him to broach the subject of BN leaving the Madani government.
However, Zahid said that Shahidan (above, left) was not the only PN MP to do so, but their names will remain a secret except to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“A secret, if shared publicly, is no longer a secret. Therefore, let me discuss this matter with specific leaders only.
“I have also informed the prime minister in detail so that we remain vigilant and ensure that the same mistake does not happen twice,” said the Umno president during a press conference after the Selangor BN Convention in Shah Alam today.
“And it’s not just Shahidan who met with me to discuss the same issue,” Zahid said.
On Friday, Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin divulged that a PN lawmaker had recently met Zahid to suggest that the party quit the government, but it was done between “two old friends” and with no mandate from PN leaders.
On Monday, Zahid claimed there was an attempt to woo BN into leaving the coalition government in exchange for the next prime minister to be chosen from the coalition.
Previously, Shahidan said that their offer to Umno representatives to leave the government was not a secret as it had been made openly, including during their political ceramah.
Reversal of Tajuddin's suspension
On Umno’s decision to reinstate the membership of former Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman with immediate effect, Zahid said the party veteran deserved the chance.
He stressed that any former party member who wants to rejoin Umno would also be given such an opportunity.

“He also came to the recent Umno general assembly and I don’t see why the Umno supreme council would reject his appeal, and if there is any other party member who proves themselves like Tajuddin, I don't see why the council can’t make the same decision,” he added.
Besides Tajuddin, former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno chairperson Noh Omar were among those previously sacked from the party for disciplinary issues during the 15th general election.
Former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan and former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein were given a six-year suspension. - Mkini
