Sabah Harapan No Discussion Decision On Musa Aman Taking Over
Sabah Pakatan Harapan said there have been no discussions on Musa Aman helming the state coalition and made it clear that important decisions related to the people’s mandate must be scrutinised by the current leadership.
The coalition’s leaders were responding to a Malaysiakini report on talk that Anwar Ibrahim is courting the former Sabah chief minister and that the Harapan chairperson’s senior aide Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin had met with Musa to discuss the matter.
When quizzed on these claims and his purported meeting with Musa, Shamsul declined to comment beyond saying: “My comment is no comment.”
PKR vice-president Awang Husaini Sahari said he too had heard the “rumour” but could not ascertain if it was true.
In a joint statement this evening, Sabah Harapan leaders, including its current chairperson Christina Liew (above), denied that the issue was “discussed or decided” at their meetings.
Former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman“Sabah Harapan takes the stand that whatever important decisions related to the people’s mandate and their confidence must be unanimously considered and scrutinised at the Sabah Harapan leadership level.
“Sabah Harapan will meet soon to discuss this issue as well as the direction of the coalition in line with the coming state election,” they said.
Apart from Liew, the statement, which claimed that the report had caused alarm and confusion among the people - were Upko president Ewon Benedick, Sabah PKR chairperson Sangkar Rasam, Sabah DAP chairperson Frankie Poon and Sabah Amanah chairperson Lahiru Latigu.
Earlier, Malaysiakini quoted sources as claiming that Musa’s experience could help strengthen Sabah Harapan, certain quarters, however, believe that the move could backfire since he is a controversial figure.
