Sabah Bersatu Youth Slams Macc S Supersonic Double Standard
Sabah Bersatu Youth has questioned the apparent disparity in the pace of MACC’s investigations, contrasting the “supersonic” speed in probing opposition figures against the apparently sluggish pace of cases linked to government leaders.
In particular, Sabah Bersatu Youth chief Hisyam Hazaril pointed to the lack of action in the Sabah corruption scandal involving mineral exploration licences, which was first reported by Malaysiakini in November last year.
“Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee had previously raised concerns in Parliament, comparing the ‘supersonic’ speed of investigations involving opposition leaders to those involving the government, the latter of which seems to be pending without an end.
“This raises serious questions about justice, which should be fair and impartial,” Hisyam said in a statement today.

Sabah Bersatu Youth chief Hisyam HazarilHe highlighted that nearly seven months have passed since the allegations implicating eight Sabah assemblypersons, the state speaker, and Chief Minister Hajiji Noor were brought to light.
“However, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki recently informed that the investigation is still ongoing (as) the investigation paper will only be finalised in another month and a half.
“Why is more time still needed? What is preventing the MACC from bringing those involved to justice?” he questioned.
He also took issue with Azam’s recent statement that another round of questioning will be conducted, following a forensic examination by the anti-graft agency on videos related to the scandal provided by a whistleblower.

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki“The whistleblower has publicly come forward multiple times, admitting to giving millions of ringgit in bribes to several Sabah state lawmakers.
“He has also handed over complete evidence to the MACC, including videos, financial records, and screenshots of WhatsApp communications.
“Yet, until now, no charges have been made. Why? What else remains to be investigated?” he pressed.
Coincidence?
ADSHe also raised suspicions on how the end of MACC’s investigation period could coincide with the dissolution of the Sabah legislative assembly, questioning whether the matter is a “coincidence or a calculated plan”.

“The people of Sabah are now watching with deep suspicion. Will the assemblypersons involved yield for the sake of their political survival? Will principles and struggles be traded away to save themselves?
“The people are also questioning whether this delay is due to political influence. Is there an effort to use it as bait to shape a new political coalition in Sabah?” he added.
On Dec 3 last year, the whistleblower released full video recordings implicating several state assemblypersons.
The whistleblower claimed the videos document discussions about returning alleged bribes given to the politicians to secure support for a mining exploration licence application.
A day later, Hajiji dismissed the corruption allegations as attempts to destabilise the state government and tarnish its reputation. - Mkini
