Don T Be Afraid To Defend Umno S Rights Youth Wing Tells President

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should not feel intimidated or hesitate to defend the party’s rightful position, secured through consensus by all parties during the formation of the unity government after the 15th general election, said its youth wing.
ADSThe wing also voiced strong and unwavering support for Zahid’s call to retain Umno’s seven ministerial posts, following Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s departure from the party.
In a statement published on Umno Youth exco Fikhran Hamshi’s Facebook page, the wing reaffirmed its resolve to champion the people’s voice and made it clear that Umno’s role in government must not be undermined.
“... (We will serve the people) in a more excellent manner without individuals who prioritise personal power over loyalty to Umno,” the wing added, in an obvious reference to Zafrul, who has chosen to join PKR.
Yesterday, Zahid (above) said that while he had no problems with Zafrul leaving Umno, he pointed out that it is “unethical for any parties within the unity government to accept another member from an allied party”.
Zafrul: Not an easy decision
Zafrul has refused to comment on his position as the investment, trade, and industry minister, saying he will leave it to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to decide on the matter.

Zafrul stated that his decision to part ways with Umno was a difficult one, and he extended his appreciation to Zahid and members of the party for their support throughout his tenure.
“This was not an easy decision, but I have thought deeply about it. It was entirely my own choice, and I appreciate those who respect my right to determine my political direction.
“I am grateful to those who stood by me during my time in Umno. For now, I ask everyone to give me space and pray that all goes smoothly for me, my wife and family during our time in the holy land,” he was quoted as saying by Scoop. - Mkini
