Ruckus In Shah Alam As Pkr Polls Enter 9th Day
The incident happened while party members were voting at the division as party elections entered its ninth day today.PETALING JAYA: A ruckus occurred at the Shah Alam PKR division during the party elections after a supporter of an election candidate began campaigning in restricted areas.
The incident happened while party members were voting as the elections entered its ninth day today.
Shah Alam PKR candidate Rodziah Ismail brushed the matter off, saying that it was “just a misunderstanding”.
“It’s nothing out of the ordinary. It’s just that a worker misunderstood something regarding the voting,” she told FMT without elaborating.
She said that, despite the incident, things went smoothly in Shah Alam.
Selangor party election committee coordinator Mazli Saring was quoted by Bernama as saying that the situation was resolved quickly without disrupting the voting process.
Voting in Hulu Selangor had to be postponed this morning because chairs and tables were not set up for the elections.
“It had to be postponed so that no problems would occur. We will discuss with the committee and related parties before deciding on a new date for voting,” he said.
Mazli said voting in 21 other divisions including Kuala Langat, Kapar, Klang, Sepang and Sungai Buloh went smoothly, with an estimated 20,000 PKR members having gone to vote physically today.
The contest for leadership of Ampang drew attention, with two popular celebrities coming up against each other. They are actor and producer Hans Isaac and rapper-songwriter Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet. - FMT
