Rm90 To Vax Each Construction Worker In Klang Valley Works Minister

Construction firms in the Klang Valley will soon be able to pay RM90 per worker to have them vaccinated against Covid-19 through a programme by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
Works Minister Fadillah Yusof said firms will be able to register their workers from next Monday (June 21) online.
The rollout is scheduled to begin in Kuala Lumpur on June 30 and on July 14 in Selangor.
The voluntary programme aims to vaccinate 40,000 construction workers.
Fadillah said the RM140 vaccination charge was brought down to a final price of RM90 following a RM50 subsidy by CIDB.
“Through this programme, the private sector will need to provide and fund officers, certified medical officers and vaccine administration centres (PPVs) while the government will supply and deliver vaccines for free.
“CIDB will coordinate and facilitate the implementation of this vaccination programme for the construction industry. This is a part of CIDB’s contribution to the industry, especially in these challenging times," he said in a statement today.
“The vaccine administration charge imposed through this programme will be RM140 for two doses. To alleviate the financial burden of the industry, CIDB will subsidise RM50 per worker and offer the CIDB premises as a PPV for free.
“This means employers in the construction industry will only need to pay RM90 to vaccinate each worker,” he explained.
Fadillah added that enquiries can be made by contacting CIDB at 03 4042 8880.
The CIDB headquarters is located at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, which is already being used as a PPV.

Construction sites have become a hotspot for Covid-19 infections, sparking many clusters.
A large proportion of construction workers are migrant workers, whose cramped and congested living conditions have come under the spotlight since the pandemic began.
Several ministries have been empowered to decide which industries are eligible for paid vaccinations under Phase Four of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).
The International Trade and Industry Ministry previously allowed those in the manufacturing sector to apply for their workers to be vaccinated, warning employers not to pass down vaccination costs to employees. - Mkini
