Rm5 Chicken Briyani Takes Internet By Storm A Case Of Too Cheap Or Is The Portion Small

FEELING the pinch of a deteriorating economy? Then perhaps the menu Rahmah will be your salve during these trying times.
Safe to say, nowadays it is difficult to get a good portion of rice, meat and vegetables, including drinks at RM5. In fact, it should be challenging for vendors to make a profit with the razor thin margin unless there is help from the government.
So it comes as a great surprise for a street stall to serve Chicken Briyani at just RM 5. Yes, it is not a menu Rahmah, so kudos to the vendor. And look at the portion!
According to the post on Instagram by netizen bestfoodmalaysia, customers get two pieces of chicken and a decent helping of Raita. For the chicken, customers even get to choose between chicken sambal or chicken varuval. Note that the Raita is an Indian condiment made of yogurt, vegetables and fruits.

Netizens were quick to point out how cheap the meal is compared to the usual fare:

“I will drop by this weekend to try ur nasi briyani. We will support you, brother,” said savi_214.
Then there was netizen _mrjoemarc lamenting that cheap things are usually far away. We suppose he doesn’t live near Taman Sentosa, Klang, where the stall is located.
However, gan_king2203 pointed out the unhealthy fact that the rice was soaked in chicken oil.
“That is not biryani at all. It’s rice, chicken and other stuff. Biryani is the way you cook it. My ancestors are crying in the corner,” said another netizen who likely felt that this was culture misappropriation.
Away from all the negativity, it is vital to point out that a simple Briyani rice with meat and vegetables might cost a customer about RM10 and above, depending on the location. At Rm5, that is about half the average price.
In other words, it is definitely affordable. As for the taste, customers have to try it out themselves to find out! — Focus Malaysia
