Sarawak PKR chief, Baru Bian, complained that money is being used to oust him. Baru Bian is aligned to one of the sides in the Anwar Ibrahim-Azmin Ali power struggle and that is why they want him out.

Baru Bian said money is being used to oust him as the Sarawak PKR chief This is actually quite normal in Malaysian politics. DAP’s Hee Yit Foong and PKR’s Jamaluddin Mohd. Radzi and Osman Jailu were all paid RM25 million each to cross over and bring down the Pakatan Rakyat Perak state government in 2009 in what is now known as the “2009 Perak Constitutional Crisis”.
I met one of the Barisan Nasional component party presidents at that time and he confirmed that a certain Chinese tycoon very close to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (and a known Mahathir crony cum proxy) is funding the entire operation.
Also guess who that Mahathir crony cum proxy Chinese tycoon is!

Anwar told me Kit Siang had everything under control but a few days later the Pakatan Rakyat Perak state government fell.
So much for “Kit Siang has everything under control.”
The battle between Mahathir and Anwar is now in full steam. What were mere whispers in the corridors of power before this are now loud and clear shouts. No more pretending, hints or innuendoes. The war is on. It is either Mahathir or Anwar. There is no room for two tigers on the same mountain.
The going price is RM25 million per Member of Parliament. Both sides need at least 30 additional MPs to add to their current numbers be able to win. So that comes to RM750 million in total.
But RM25 million does not seem to be enough. No one appears to be accepting the offer. This is a high-stakes game so the price has to be higher than just RM25 million. RM25 million was what was paid in 2009 to topple the Pakatan Rakyat Perak state government. This is 2019, not 2009, so the price has to go up. And we are talking about the post of Prime Minister of Malaysia, not just the post of Menteri Besar of Perak.

So, if you do not have more than RM1 billion to spend then forget it. The cost is very high and a game for those who have deep pockets.
The problem is, when one side says he or she has a budget of RM1 billion, the other side will up that budget to RM1.5 billion. And if you increase your budget also to RM1.5 billion, your competitor will increase his or hers to RM2 billion.

Azmin Ali may have to increase his budget to RM2 billion or RM3 billion if he wants to keep Mahathir in power The bottom line is: the loser will be the one who runs out of money first and the winner will be the one who can keep increasing the pot with no limits.
But then we all know there is no such thing as a free lunch. At the end of the day someone must pay, whether it is RM1 billion, RM2 billion or RM3 billion. So, who will pay? Yes, you guessed it right! At the end of the day the Malaysian taxpayers will be paying.
