Remember When Muhyiddin Gave Umno Rm10m For Sabah Polls
PAS is not the only party that has received funds from Bersatu, claimed the latter’s information chief, Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.
He said that during the Sabah state election in 2020, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin - who was prime minister at the time - also gave RM10 million to Umno.
“When Muhyiddin was prime minister and Bersatu was part of the government, he offered financial assistance to everyone, including Umno and BN, who did not contest under the Perikatan Nasional banner and eventually betrayed him.
“All the PN candidates received the assistance they deserved from Muhyiddin. It is similar to how, during the previous Sabah election, when Umno and BN did not have enough funding, and (then BN secretary-general) Annuar Musa asked for assistance, he was eventually given RM10 million,” Tun Faisal said in a Facebook post today.
ADSThe monies he alleged were then delivered by one of Annuar’s aides to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s officers at the Magellan Hotel in Sabah.
Tun Faisal was at the time a close associate of Annuar.

Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail AzizHe was responding to Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, who said yesterday that Bersatu footing PAS’ election bills in the previous general election were confirmation of “rumours” about why the Islamist party abandoned its partnership with Umno.
Asyraf was the Umno Youth chief at the time of the Sabah 2020 election.
Commenting further, Tun Faisal said that Muhyiddin had channelled funds to Umno despite being aware of rumours that Zahid and other Umno MPs were planning to betray the Bersatu president.
“All this assistance and funding had been discreetly given by Muhyiddin without having to belittle or insult anyone,” he added.
PN is currently on the brink of a power struggle, with PAS seeking to take charge of the opposition coalition.
During the recent PAS muktamar, the party’s election director Sanusi Nor landed a veiled jab at Bersatu, claiming the latter relied on the Islamist party’s funds for election work.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin’s former aide, Marzuki Mohamad, shot back and claimed that PAS received “significant financial contributions” from the Bersatu president in the 2022 general election, which contributed to the party’s gains in the election. - Mkini
