Lim Teck Ghee, a former regional UN adviser and World Bank political scientist.PETALING JAYA: An NGO that comprises moderate Malaysians has urged Anwar Ibrahim to read articles by its member, Lim Teck Ghee, after the PKR president had questioned the academic’s credibility
The group, Malaysian Action for Justice and Unity Foundation (Maju), said that Lim had written “trenchant essays” on some of the biggest economic scandals other than 1Malaysia Development Berhad
Lim had also written about the state of the nation during the past 14 years
“We are sure (Anwar) will change his mind when this fact check is completed,” the group said after Anwar had questioned Lim’s whereabouts during the time of corruption and bribery under the previous government
Lim, speaking at a public forum, had described the reform agenda of the Pakatan Harapan-led government as “an unmitigated disaster”
In a riposte, Anwar said: “This academic was quiet during the era of corruption and theft with the previous government, but now he wants to say the country is disastrous.”Lim had listed an array of disappointments with PH, including issues on education, governance, race relations, religion, the Zakir Naik controversy, Malay Dignity Congress, and the non-ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination
Maju said that politicians were “very prickly” when citizens questioned them and went on to remind them that they served the people and not the other way around
“PH leaders can begin by reading Dr Lim’s writings carefully instead of attacking its critics who were and are still their strongest supporters.” - FMT
