Rayer Keep Calm And Carry On Lodging Reports Against Zamri
DAP lawmaker RSN Rayer has renewed his call for strict action against Muslim preacher Zamri Vinoth who likened Kavadi bearers during the Hindu Thaipusam festival to individuals who are possessed and intoxicated.
Urging Malaysians to maintain pressure on the issue, the Jelutong MP encouraged the public to continue filing police reports nationwide.
Referencing the action taken in the KK Mart case where the owners, despite their apology, were swiftly hauled up to face charges in court, Rayer called for the same in the case of the Era FM radio hosts.
“I urge the attorney-general and the police to act immediately and prefer criminal charges against the Era FM deejay's and Zamri (above, left) without any further delay to demonstrate that there are no double standards on all cases of religious mockery as guaranteed by the prime minister.”
Zamri’s controversial Facebook post came amid a video featuring three Era FM radio hosts who seemingly mocked the Thaipusam kavadi ritual.
Following widespread backlash, the trio - who have since apologised - were suspended, and police launched an investigation into the incident.

From left: Era FM DJs Radin Amir Affendy, Azad Jasmin and Nabil AhmadRayer said the attorney-general and police must act without fear or favour in upholding Article 11 of the Federal Constitution which guarantees the right of every citizen to profess and practise the religion of his choice free from any interference and insults.
“Zamri continues to insult, belittle and ridicule Thaipusam, a much revered Hindu religious festival,” he added.
Zamri ‘unrepentant, unremorseful’
The MP said despite hundreds of police reports lodged against the preacher, he is “attempting to stoke racial and religious tension” by mentioning firefighter Adib Kassim who died during a riot outside a Hindu temple in 2018.
“This is not the first time hundreds of police reports have been lodged against Zamri.
“In the recent incident, despite being summoned by the police to have his statement taken and having his Facebook posting temporarily removed, Zamri brazenly reposted his Facebook comments and went further to justify his act of mocking Thaipusam.
“Zamri remains unrepentant, unremorseful and continues to defy the laws of this country to the dismay and anger of Malaysians,” he added.
Previously, MIC deputy president M Saravanan and Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo also called for the preacher to be arrested. - Mkini
