Rafizi To Convey Najib S Sapura Debate Condition To Anwar

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli claimed Najib Abdul Razak was "afraid" after the ex-prime minister set a condition for both of them to debate on the financially-troubled Sapura Energy Berhad.
Najib said he was prepared to debate with Rafizi but wants PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to be part of the debate.
"The fact is Najib is afraid to debate. So he is finding excuses to drag in Anwar because he thinks the PKR president will also be afraid to debate him," he said in a statement on Twitter.
However, Rafizi indicated that he was prepared to try and make it happen.
"God-willing, I will convey (the challenge) to Anwar and we will see what new reason or excuse Najib will give," Rafizi added.
Earlier today, Najib said he was prepared to accept the debate challenge but added that Rafizi must bring his "boss" along.
"Both of you can be on the same stage to debate with me or you (Rafizi) can assist him (Anwar). Two versus one, no problem," he said.
PKR president Anwar IbrahimNajib added that if Anwar was unwilling to join the debate, Rafizi can debate with Selangor BN information chief Isham Jalil.
Isham was also a former aide to Najib when the latter was the prime minister.
Najib also shared Isham's comments stating that Najib was "not at Rafizi's level" and offered to debate with Rafizi instead.
Sapura Energy is a public-listed company but has received large investments from state-owned Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PNB), which is in charge of funds such as Amanah Saham Bumiputera and Amanah Saham Malaysia.
PNB holds a 40 percent stake in Sapura Energy, which had increased from slightly more than 10 percent in 2018 as it continued to pump money into the firm facing financial challenges.
However, Sapura Energy has recently required further financial help, raising questions if PNB will have to pump further funds to get the firm out of its financial woes. - Mkini
