Pu Mak Hindu Teacher Lodges Report Against Delivery Rider
A schoolteacher was left shocked and distressed after receiving an offensive message from a food delivery rider via the app’s internal chat feature.
ADSThe message read: “Oii sampai. Tak mau ambik makanan jangan order pu**mak Hindu (Oii, arrived. If you don’t want to take the food, don’t order pu**mak Hindu).”
Malaysiakini has censored the offensive term in accordance with its editorial guidelines.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, M Amutha, 27, recounted that she received the message at 4.40pm on Sunday after she messaged the rider to check on her order.
“I received an initial notification that the rider had arrived at the restaurant. When I did not receive my order by the estimated time, I sent a message to the rider,” she said.
Amutha said she was “deeply hurt and disturbed” when she saw the rider use the phrase “pu**mak Hindu”.
“Such language is not only offensive, but also a direct insult to my religion, my identity, and the values of mutual respect that our country stands for.
“Malaysia is a multiracial, multireligious, and multinational country. Our strength lies in our diversity, and it is our responsibility to uphold harmony by respecting one another’s beliefs and backgrounds.
“The use of such hateful and vulgar language is completely unacceptable and goes against the spirit of unity we strive to protect,” she stressed.
Possible scammer
A screenshot of the conversation shows Amutha asking, “Sudah mai ke (have you arrived)?”, to which the rider responded, “Ni ada bawah (I am downstairs)”.

The teacher from Machang Bubok said she was on her way to the ground floor of her apartment building when the offensive message appeared.
ADSAmutha then contacted the company’s customer service hotline. She was advised to lodge a police report.
She was also informed that the delivery rider might be a “scammer” as the company could not locate the individual’s details within their system.
Malaysiakini is withholding the name of the company pending their response.
Amutha subsequently filed a police report the same day at the Machang Bubok police station.
She included the female rider’s name, phone number, and motorcycle licence plate - information she had retrieved from the application.
Respect a ‘basic human right’
As of now, Amutha has not received any follow-up from either the police or the company.
“As a member of the Hindu community, I felt personally attacked and disrespected. This incident is not just about me; it reflects a broader issue of ignorance and intolerance that must be addressed.

“I strongly urge both the company and the relevant authorities to take firm action against this behaviour,” she said.
“No one should ever feel unsafe, disrespected, or devalued because of their faith.
“Respect is a basic human right, and silence in the face of hate is not an option,” she further said.
Malaysiakini has reached out to Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief Helmi Aris for comment. - Mkini
