Police Trio Under Probe For Allegedly Extorting Molesting Teen Still On Duty
Three police officers accused of extorting and molesting an 18-year-old student remain on duty while authorities decide on possible charges.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said investigation papers have been completed and submitted to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action.
“The disciplinary investigation against the three police officers involved is being carried out concurrently with the investigation by the criminal investigation department of the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, and the officers remain on duty but are not assigned to field operations,” Fadil (above) said in a brief statement to the media.
One of the three accused officers is expected to face a charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty, while all three are proposed to be charged under Section 384 for extortion. In addition to the criminal proceedings, the trio will also face departmental disciplinary action.
The three officers were arrested in September for allegedly extorting and sexually coercing the student.
The New Straits Times reported Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad saying that the men, who were detained on Sept 18, were being investigated under Sections 354 and 384 of the Penal Code.

The victim further claimed that the officer withheld her MyKad, demanded her contact details, and promised money and an iPhone in exchange for an ongoing sexual relationship.
