Police Expect To Seize Many Of Jasmine Loo S Assets Says Igp

Police expect to seize various assets that belong to Jasmine Loo, an associate of fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho (Jho Low).
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said today that the woman allegedly involved in the 1MDB scandal is still being detained.
The top cop said the Commercial Crime Investigation Department is investigating Loo under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
He added that Loo (above) has been cooperative.
"We expect to seize many assets after this," he said, as quoted by Utusan Malaysia.
Razarudin was speaking at a press conference after launching a Madani Ride programme at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre.
Loo, a law graduate, was one of the suspects wanted by authorities to facilitate a probe into the troubled state investment arm.
The authorities, however, had not been successful to locate her until July 7 when they picked her up at a location in Kuala Lumpur.
It was unclear if Loo had just returned from overseas when police picked her up.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin HusainRazarudin said the police plan to propose that Loo's assets be forfeited by the court.
He indicated that Loo's arrest will be able to assist police in their investigations into 1MDB, which have been going on for several years.
He reportedly said police may need to hold the lawyer longer until they can complete the investigations before handing her over to MACC.
Another alleged associate arrested in May
Loo is the second associate of Low to be arrested by Malaysian authorities of late.
In May, the MACC arrested Kee Kok Thiam, an alleged associate of Low, after he was deported by Macau authorities for overstaying his visa.
He arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 3am on May 3, where he was ordered to go to the MACC’s headquarters at 10am on the same day.
Al Jazeera reported that Kee told the MACC he had met Low and other 1MDB fugitives - including Eric Tan Kim Loong, Casey Tang Keng Chee, Geh Choh Heng and Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil - in Macau.
He also reportedly said Low had instructed him "not to return to Malaysia as a witness in the 1MDB case".
Kee died on May 29 when receiving treatment for an illness at a hospital, which sparked speculations on the circumstances leading to his death.
However, his family later issued a statement saying that the 56-year-old businessperson died in hospital after suffering a "sudden massive stroke" and urged the public not to speculate. - Mkini
