PN secretary-general Azmin Ali said the decisions were made yesterday by the coalition’s Supreme Council.
He said the election committee would “identify the seats to be contested by PN, devise strategies and approaches for each constituency, and draft a manifesto for the people of Sabah”.
Azmin said the Supreme Council had endorsed PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin’s proposal paper on forming a “united opposition front”, with follow-up discussions soon to begin with other parties.
Bersatu has already authorised Muhyiddin to lead efforts to build the opposition front ahead of the 16th general election.
On July 18, Muhyiddin held talks with leaders of several opposition parties, including Muda, Parti Sosialis Malaysia, Pejuang, Putra, the Malaysian Advancement Party, and Urimai.
Azmin said PN reiterated its full support for the “Turun Anwar” protest scheduled for tomorrow, calling it a peaceful expression of the people’s frustration with rising living costs and what it called government “oppression”.
“This peaceful assembly is a manifestation of the people’s will to bring about real change for the prosperity of the nation and wellbeing of its citizens,” he added. - FMT
