Pn Candidates Ink Anti Graft Pledge Overseen By Muhyiddin
MALACCA POLLS | All 28 Perikatan Nasional candidates for the Malacca polls tonight inked an anti-corruption pledge as part of PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin's anti-graft campaign message in the state election.
Based on the declaration inked by each of the PN candidates, they agree to abide by the MACC Act 2009 and other related laws in their duties as assemblyperson, if elected.
"I will reject any forms of corruption, irregularities and abuse of power as well as provide full cooperation to the MACC in curbing all forms of corruption, irregularities and abuse of power," read the declaration.
It added that the candidates if elected won't be involved in such activities regardless if it was directly or indirectly.
The signing of the pledge was witnessed by Muhyiddin at the Malacca PN election operations headquarters in Tanjung Minyak.
The declaration document also required the candidates to pledge to report any corruption, irregularities or abuse of power to the MACC involving themselves of their staff.
Muhyiddin has positioned PN as a "cleaner" option to BN after a slow start to the campaign.
He had painted its main rival Umno as being self-interested and plagued by corrupt leaders.
Campaigning for the Malacca election started on Nov 8. Malaccans will decide on Nov 20.
The snap polls were triggered after incumbent chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali lost his majority.
Four assemblypersons had withdrawn their support for him and tried to form a new government with Pakatan Harapan.
In an attempt to thwart the move, Sulaiman sought a dissolution of the state assembly, paving the way to fresh polls. - Mkini
