Pmx Denounced For Dancing With Butcher Trump Malaysians Rebut Ignorant Palestinian Academic

ONE moment Malaysia is seen as a prominent advocate for Palestinian rights, constantly highlighting the atrocities they are subjected to by the Israeli regime.
However, that perception can change very quickly though with the recent presence of US President Donald Trump at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur having rubbed some people the wrong way.
Apart from local dissenters which include opposition parties, the visit by the former TV reality star-turned-statesman was also highlighted on social media by certain pro-Palestine activists, including political scientist Dr Ghada Sasa.
Sharing a video on X of Trump being welcomed with a traditional dance upon landing, the McMaster University PhD holder in International Relations could not hide her contempt and disgust when she wrote:
“We Palestinians will never forget that while Trump and Netanyahu launched a livestreamed Holocaust against us, Muslims literally danced for them – from the UAE to Malaysia. Laughed at our mass death and brutal oppression.”
The post which has generated 5.8M views at time of writing has obviously struck a nerve within some quarters, with it being shared by other like-minded individuals such as Gaza-hailed Omar Hamad (@OmarHamadD) who also condemned Malaysia for its tasteless song and dance routine.
Such commentary obviously left a bad taste in many Malaysians’ mouths as they swiftly rose to defend the country’s foreign policies given its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause.
Among the first to register dissatisfaction at the academic’s harsh pronouncement was Malaysia’s own no-holds-barred human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim who succinctly implored the professor to “go and fly kite!”.

More than a few asked just how could anyone make such an accusation given Malaysia’s very loud and consistent championing of the Palestinian issue. In light of the continuous support, it was insinuated that the poster was quite simply “ungrateful” or worse, “feeling entitled”.

On the post by Omar who claimed to be “a witness of genocide”, the reaction was no different with many Malaysians taking umbrage at the accusation of being pro-Zionists after decades of support for the Palestinian cause.
Such viewpoints were labelled “ignorant” and the poster was advised to do a wee bit of research before passing judgement.

It was also stated that a diplomatic solution to the current conflict must be explored, hence the need to have meaningful dialogue with the likes of Trump. Moreover, it was also pointed out that this is how Malaysians greet visiting dignitaries.

The thing to note from this episode is that international perception can change very rapidly due to just one act. Despite decades of standing with Palestine, one moment of joget on the tarmac with The Don has sullied that reputation.
With hundreds of millions of ringgit in aid finding its way to Gaza, Malaysians are surely entitled to ask what more Palestinians want when Malaysia has been loyal and steadfast in its support and friendship.
While some will argue that Trump should NOT have been invited to attend the ASEAN summit as a form of protest over the Gaza conflict, it really is stretching it to claim that Malaysia is complicit in aiding and abetting in the murder of Palestinians.
