The accident, however, did not to dampen the 35-year-old entrepreneur's spirit from developing his businesses
Apart from going on to become the owner of the Medan Selera Asam Pedas Jr – a popular spot that offers the historical state's well-known delicacy 'asam pedas- Khairul also runs multiple other businesses including a fish processing factory that produces asam pedas paste, an umrah management company, a photo shop as well as two cattle farms located in Jasin and Alai
The success story of Khairul, who also markets his asam pedas within and outside the state, has left a lasting impression on Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who shared the entrepreuner's achievement on his official social media account
"I am impressed with the high spirit of Medan Selera Asam Pedas Jr, Khairul Md Nor, in managing his restaurant
"I witnessed for myself that his restaurant has a special place in the hearts of visitors irrespective whether they are tourists or locals
"His success story is proof that if we continue to work hard and persevere, regardless of the obstacles, Insyallah (God willing), we will succeed
"Congratulations to Khairul and other traders out there, who continue to preserve through trying times," the prime minister said
Muhyiddin made his first official visit to the state after being appointed prime minister in March
After chairing the Economic Action Council meeting a hotel here – the first such meeting to be conducted outside Putrajaya - the prime minister visited the Pahlawan Walk Market
"Alhamdullilah, it seems that many visitors come to this bazaar which offers various traditional and modern goods, handicraft and souvenirs ranging from clothes, 'terompah' (wooden clogs), 'tudung saji' (food cover) as well as popular local food items and condiments such as 'belacan' (shrimp paste sauce), cencaluk, gula Melaka and dodol
"I pray that the tourism sector in Melaka and around the country recovers soon post (Covid-19) pandemic
"The government will continue with our efforts and implement several tourism initiatives to revive and make the nation's economy more conducive," he said. - NST
