Pm Phase One To Continue Until 4k Cases A Day Is Reached
The movement control order (MCO) will not end tomorrow, as the first phase of the National Recovery Plan continues until the threshold of less than 4,000 cases a day is reached, ICU capacity has been eased and 10 percent of the population has been vaccinated, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
"The government will announce more comprehensive assistance to all groups of society on Monday or Tuesday," said the Pagoh MP, according to Bernama.
The Health Ministry yesterday reported 5,803 new Covid-19 cases, and there were 81 fatalities bringing the cumulative death toll to 4,884.
The number of fatalities in June alone thus far is 2,088.
The current MCO 3.0 was initially introduced from June 1-14 and subsequently extended to June 28.
Muhyiddin on June 15 unveiled a four-phased exit plan for the nation with regard to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Each phase is expected to take about two months with social sectors - including schools - to reopen gradually during Phase Three which is estimated to start in September.
Currently, Malaysia is in Phase One and transitioning from one phase to the next will depend on whether the three criteria are met.
These are the number of daily Covid-19 cases, nationwide ICU capacity and the number of people who have been vaccinated (with two doses).
To transition from Phase One to Phase Two, the country will have to record an average of below 4,000 Covid-19 cases daily, ICU capacity easing to moderate levels and 10 percent of the population being fully vaccinated.
Health Minister Dr Adham Baba announced total that a total of 7,226,949 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered as of Saturday (June 26) and that the number encompassed 5,204,993 recipients of the first dose and 2,021,956 individuals who received their second dose injection.
With a population of 32 million, 10 percent fully vaccinated would be 3.2 million meaning that threshold should be reached in July. - Mkini
