Pm Current Gov T To Continue With Harapan S Anti Corruption Action Plan
The Perikatan Nasional (PN) government will be continuing the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) devised by the previous Pakatan Harapan administration, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin
He said the current government did not wish to be seen as abusing its power, but instead, all actions are taken in line with rule of law
“The PN administration aims to support long-held principles, among others, to form a clean government, with integrity. I will not compromise on this
“That is why, the anti-corruption action plan which we agreed to in the previous administration, will be continued by the current administration today
“We want to ensure government business is carried out according to rule of law, on the basis of existing laws... that any action taken is not seen as an abuse of power,” he said when addressing Prime Minister’s Department staff in Dataran Perdana, Putrajaya today
This is Muhyiddin’s first meeting with the staff since the government imposed movement control order (MCO) in March
In his speech, the premier said there were limits to how far the administration could take on duties, especially matters related to law
“So in future, we will emphasise on how to handle our administration matters in an organised and the right way, especially relating to national finances. There must be no wastage.”The previous Harapan government, then led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, introduced the five-year National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) in January last year. Under the plan, in which 115 initiatives to combat corruption in the country were identified and outlined, the government said it would focus on 22 initiatives for the first two years of the plan
Among them were plans to legislate laws for political funding, asset declaration and acceptance of gifts by civil servants, as well as addressing loopholes in the civil service which opened room for corruption. - Mkini
