Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin needs to emulate his predecessor Dr Mahathir Mohamad and step down in a dignified manner as he has lost the support of the majority of MPs, claimed PKR Youth vice-chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman.
"Muhyiddin needs to emulate the former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who resigned immediately after he was believed to have lost the support of the majority, so to enable the palace to carry out the subsequent processes.
"The revelation by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who claimed that there are several Barisan Nasional MPs who have shifted their support to (PKR president) Anwar Ibrahim, shows that Muhyiddin Yassin has lost the support of the majority as prime minister," Syed Badli said in a statement today.
He added that Anwar's announcement, that he now has enough support to form a government with a substantial majority, also shows that the PN administration can no longer function as a government.
"Anwar also stressed that the processes of government transition will take place as soon as the health of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong recovers (from his current stay at the National Heart Institute).
"I also pray that the King is blessed with good health, well-being and recovery," Syed Badli said.
"Therefore, I urge Muhyiddin to resign as prime minister in a respectful manner to facilitate the government transition process."

Anwar had claimed that he had "solid and convincing" majority support from MPs to form a new government.
He had declined to reveal the exact number of MPs on his side, explaining that this information was reserved for the Agong's ears.
The claim was reinforced by an official statement from Zahid, who said that "many" Umno and BN MPs have expressed support for Anwar.
However, many Umno MPs who were linked with such support have come out to deny it.
Muhyiddin himself has reiterated that he is still the prime minister and will carry out his duties as such. - Mkini
