Muhyiddin Calls For Sabahans To Choose Parties That Hold Federal Power

SABAH POLLS | Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today urged Sabahan voters to stick with the parties that hold federal power today
Stressing that Sabah is a poor state, he said the people need an administration that has a close relationship with Putrajaya in order to solve their economic and development woes
"Covid-19 is not over. And it's not just that. The effect of this problem is the collapse of our country's economy
"One of the states that have it the worse is Sabah. Although Sabah had been a poor state before this, Covid-19 has landed more of its people in poverty
"That is why I want to say that simply forming a state government won't solve all problems. The state government also needs support from, and have a close relationship, with the federal government," said Muhyiddin
He said Perikatan Nasional (PN) is now in the federal government and the coalition is comprised of parties that are competing in the current state election. Therefore, he added, voters should form a state government made up of those from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)
GRS is made up of the PN and BN coalitions, as well as Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)
Muhyiddin was speaking at the launch of the GRS manifesto this afternoon
The event was held at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu and was attended by leaders of PN, BN, and PBS, as well as their allies in the state
Putrajaya to implement MA63In his speech, Muhyiddin also took a swipe at the Warisan state government under the leadership of its chief minister Shafie Apdal, who he claimed had failed to deliver promises to help the people
The Bersatu president said that this was unlike the federal government that he is leading, which has managed to deliver assistance to the rakyat
"I was informed that the Warisan state government led by my friend has made many promises, but even the Covid-19 assistance that they promised was not delivered
"I promised to help you, and all have arrived. Even the assistance is still being continued," he said
Muhyiddin hinted that further financial assistance is in the pipeline, saying that he would be discussing with Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz
According to the premier, Putrajaya is also going to give what is due to all Sabahans by implementing the Malaysia Agreement 1963
However, he said details into the matter would only be revealed tonight in his Malaysia Day speech later tonight
"What has been in black and white, which is the rights of Sabah people as per the MA63, is on our list to be carried out
