Pkr Polls Zuraida Slams Dr Syed Husin Ali Says His Remarks Like Bn

PKR incumbent Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin has launched a salvo against party stalwart Dr Syed Husin Ali for playing down the ongoing internal conflict and sabotage plaguing its current party polls.
(The Star) – Dr Syed, who is chairman of PKR’s Objection, Appeals and Disciplinary committee, said on Saturday (Oct 28) that problems surrounding its ongoing party polls are not as serious as they seemed to be.
Zuraida, without mincing her words, described Dr Syed’s remark as akin to comments made by leaders from the former Barisan Nasional government.
“Sounds like a Barisan government. It’s so obvious, you have to be responsible for this election if there are irregularities.
Dr Syed blamed its members for not expressing their grievances through the appropriate channels and over-reporting by the media over its party polls.
At the same time, Zuraida described the use of a jammer device during polls in Kuala Selangor as a sabotage and very serious.
“The police confirmation of a jammer looked as though some parties are worried about being beaten in the Kuala Selangor party election,” she said.
According to Zuraida, the jammer was allegedly placed by certain quarters with vested interest to sabotage the party’s e-voting election system, being used for first time in its party polls.
“So, it’s a clear sabotage and it’s very serious. The party election is very critical now.”
The outspoken PKR leader also said she was not surprised that the jammer was being used to sabotage pariy polls in other areas.
“But I was so surprised that the Kuala Selangor election has to be cancelled, which is very demoralising for the people because they have made arrangements and lots of preparations.
“It takes a lot of effort and the decision has to be reviewed… they (members) are very upset,” she said.
Zuraida said PKR must address the issues plaguing its troubled party polls, including missing votes, the management of the election process and money politics.
“Otherwise the party will be continue to be in denial syndrome,” she said.
Such incidences in PKR will definitely trigger a review in its party election in Melaka and Kuala Selangor, she added.
“And we don’t know what is going to happen in Sabah and Sarawak, where these are rural areas and the line is bad, and they (party) said they are going to do (e-voting) off line.
“But it’s still not fool-proof and I’m very sceptical about it. So, it might cause more problems and more delays.
“So, they must take stock of the situation,” she added.
On Sunday (Oct 28), a police report was lodged by a Kuala Selangor PKR candidate after a jammer was found allegedly to sabotage ongoing party polls.
According to the PKR candidate, the device was allegedly placed on the floor at the spectators’ seats since 10.30am when polling just started.
It had a metal casing with six antennas, and labels that read “4G” and “WiFi”.
Kuala Selangor police chief Md Asri A Wahab confirmed that investigations found that the jammer was a “Mobile Phone Jammer 6 Antennas”.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for sabotage, which upon conviction, carries a jail term of no less than one year and not exceeding five years.
