Alleged Phantom Voters Fraud Claims Marring Pkr Polls

(The Star) – Viral videos of alleged PKR phantom voters in Selangor and a statutory declaration (SD) on the possibility of bogus members in Sarawak PKR are marring the party polls.
The videos show polling officers ticking off unlisted voters during Selangor PKR’s second stage e-voting on Sunday (Oct 21).
The SD, dated Oct 17, by Sarawak PKR information chief Vernon Kedit cast suspicion on the membership of more than a thousand people in Julau and Sarikei branches.
According to the SD, 1,310 never wanted to be members but were registered while 65 were re-registered although they were old members.
It also states that 71 people were registered twice in different branches with different membership numbers.
According to Vernon, he had conducted a verification of 6,474 members of Julau PKR branch and found that “1,310 denied having any intention to join the party and they have never given any consent for anyone to register them as members”.
Julau PKR branch’s membership was reported to have spiked from only 603 on June 26 to 13,000 a day later.
Vernon also said that even Meluan state assemblyman Rolland Duat Anak Jubin of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was listed as a PKR member in Julau. The elected representative has denied he joined PKR.
Sarawak PKR goes to e-vote on Nov 10, the last state to do so.
The nationwide PKR polls, which started on Sept 22, have been hit with technical glitches and allegations of discrepancies from day one.
After an almost uneventful start last week, the second leg of the PKR party polls was in a state of chaos in several places.
The high stakes involved in the Selangor leg of the party polls appear to be a factor behind some of the strange events.
Among the divisions that saw drama were the Petaling Jaya Utara, Gombak, Puchong and Selayang divisions.
In Puchong, the Light Strike Force had to be called in to control a fight that took place between two groups.
The groups started shoving each other after waiting for more than three hours to vote.
In Melaka, there were allegations that some 1,000 votes had “gone missing”.
The Star is contacting Vernon and other PKR leaders for comments.
