Pkr Deputy Sec Gen Why Didn T Akmal Object To Blackrock During Bn Rule
PKR deputy secretary-general Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan asked why Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh was willing to be critical of the controversial Blackrock deal now but didn't speak up during BN rule.
"I felt strange when Akmal said the Umno Youth did not agree and asked the government to reject the sale and urged the government to stop the effort because Blackrock owner Larry Fink is a supporter of Israel.
"But I don't see Akmal giving any statement (all this while) regarding how Blackrock can become the second largest shareholder in our country,” said Sathia (above).
He referred to Akmal's continued criticism of the government's efforts to sell 30 percent of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
GIP is in the process of being taken over by Blackrock, a US company that has close ties to Israel, in addition to investing in companies that supply arms to the Zionist regime.
The company entered Malaysia during the BN administration and has been in the country since the 1990s.
"Did Akmal not dare because BN led the government at that time?" Sathia asked.
Be more transparent
Sathia then asked Akmal to be more transparent when giving his views on government policies.
"I'm sure the government doesn't stop anyone including Umno leaders from giving their views, especially if you don't agree with the government's decisions.
"But it must be honest. Don't throw dishonest criticisms just to gain cheap popularity," he said.
Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal SalehAkmal recently questioned Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's statement that Malaysia's economy would be affected if the government severed ties with all Israel-related companies operating abroad.
"We have many other companies out there that have expertise, that MAHB can ask for help.
"I don't think that without Blackrock, MAHB will disappear, will go bankrupt," said Akmal.
Sathia described Akmal's criticism of the Anwar administration as biased and not reflecting the spirit of a unity government. - Mkini
