Pkr Deputy Sec Gen Endorses Kamil For Youth Chief Post

PKR deputy secretary-general Zakwan Mustafa Kamal believes the party’s youth wing members should give Kamil Abdul Munim a chance to lead their movement.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, he said Kamil (above) has received wide support from 14 state chapters to replace their incumbent national chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim.
"As a PKR member, I respect the right of every party member to participate in party polls. But at the same time, I see that Kamil has received strong support from PKR youth from around the country.
"Thus, I suggest members of the youth wing give him their votes during the party election this May," Zakwan said.
PKR deputy secretary-general Zakwan Mustafa KamalPreviously, almost every PKR Youth state chapter has voiced their backing for Kamil, who is currently Adam's deputy.
The latest chapter to have endorsed Kamil was the Federal Territories PKR Youth, who pledged their full support for the political secretary to Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
"Our support for Kamil was based on his excellent leadership records, networks, and good relationship with our allies in the Harapan Youth movement, unity government, NGOs and youth organisations in the country.
"His experience in federal administration and as a political secretary to the finance minister would also help bridge relationships between PKR Youth and other organisations, including the government," the state chapter said in its statement.
Kamil to consider contesting
Recently, Kamil reportedly said he would consider the requests from the party grassroots to contest the PKR Youth chief position during the party polls in May.
This came after Adam, who is also the deputy youth and sports minister, expressed his intention to go for a spot in the PKR central leadership council instead of defending his current post.
Previously, Malaysiakini was informed that any party member who wishes to contest the PKR Youth chief post must get an endorsement from at least 20 divisions.
However, the condition has yet to be finalised pending a council meeting this Feb 23. - Mkini
