Pj Mp Offers Cheeky Salute To Dr M As Pas Bersatu Follow His Lead
Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has offered a tongue-in-cheek congratulatory message to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the latter's “leadership” role in the PN coalition.
"Congratulations to Mahathir because he has become the ‘ketua umum’ (de facto leader) of PN.
"PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has signed Mahathir's Malay People's Proclamation.
"Now PN deputy chairperson Ahmad Faizal Azumu has issued a statement challenging Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to reveal his wealth. I think making a similar call to Mahathir shows that Bersatu is beginning to bow to the GTA (Gerakan Tanah Air) chairperson," said Lee on social media.
This comes after several PAS leaders signed Mahathir's “Malay People’s Proclamation” - a document which urged Malays to unite to "save" their race.
Mahathir and Anwar are trading barbs over the issue of assets despite a pending legal suit in court.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister Anwar IbrahimMahathir asked Anwar to declare how much he was worth when he served as his deputy prime minister from 1993 to 1998, claiming the latter was among the “past leaders” accused of cronyism.
This came after Anwar reiterated his call on Mahathir to reveal how much the nonagenarian and his family are worth, which is now the subject of an RM150 million defamation suit."
Faizal supported Mahathir's statement.
PN deputy chairperson Ahmad Faizal Azumu"It is clear that the influence of PAS and Bersatu is seen to be declining so that it is necessary (for them) to depend on Mahathir's strength," claimed Lee.
Today, Faizal told The Star that GTA is unlikely to survive on its own as it is not a force to be reckoned with.
He said Mahathir might be an influence, but the alliance was not like PN, which was a force on its own.
“With the number of Malay parties right now, it is natural for Malay voters to demand a force that unites all Malay parties.
“GTA is like a small cup. You can’t pour everything from a big cup into a small cup,” he said before going on to ask GTA to support PN unconditionally.
“Bersatu is committed to upholding Malay and Muslim rights with a Malaysia for all races and religions.
“As GTA seemed to champion the same ideals, we welcome GTA to give us their support to get rid of those who have played out Malay voters in the last general election,” he reportedly said. - Mkini
