Pas Veep Envisages The Fall Of Harapan In Five Years
It would not be impossible for the Pakatan Harapan government to fall in five years, says PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah. Amar believes that the bickering within the ruling coalition showed that Harapan lacks a common understanding as each component party has its own agenda, he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian
"I am not going to meddle (in their business), but their infighting is so serious as there is a lack of understanding among themselves
"Their collaboration before the 14th general election was merely to oust BN. That's the problem," he said. He further described these internal feuds as cancerous, as Harapan are finding it difficult to arrive at a consensus on its collective agenda. Last week, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang stressed that his party would quit the ruling coalition if it abandoned its reform agenda – which critics took as a sign of discord within the coalition. The Harapan administration has been criticised for apparently backtracking on some of its election pledges, such as abolishing highway tools and ratifying international human rights instruments. Several leaders within the coalition have also been engaging in public spats – most notably between DAP Youth and Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman on whether fellow cabinet member P Waythamoorthy should resign over the Seafield temple riots
Commenting on this, Amar noted that Syed Saddiq's call for Waythamoorthy to resign is appropriate, as many quarters also wanted him to vacate the post
He stressed that Kelantan PAS agreed with the quit calls, as the minister had apparently hurt the feelings of the people. -Mkini
