Pas Staying Away From Perak Political Controversy
Pas deputy president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said as stated by the party's secretary-general Datuk Takiyudin Hassan, it would not even take part in the formation of Perak's new government. NSTP/ SHARIFAH MAHSINAH ABDULLAHKOTA BARU: Pas will not interfere with the ongoing political controversy in Perak.
Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said as stated by the party's secretary-general Datuk Takiyudin Hassan, it would not even take part in the formation of Perak's new government.
Yesterday, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was ousted as the Perak menteri besar after failing to secure a simple majority from fellow assemblymen when a vote of confidence was called at the state assembly.
"What happened in Perak was shocking. We are still in the dark (on why the vote of confidence was called in the first place)."Hence, we (Pas) will wait and see on the political development in the state," he said when met at his home today.
Asked if there would be a new political coalition to form the next state government, Mohd Amar said such a matter would be the prerogative of parties commanding the most support in the state.
"If Umno wants to cooperate with DAP, for example, well, that is up to them. We have no right to prevent Umno from reaching such a decision."
Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man had earlier said today the political crisis in Perak could have been resolved through negotiations instead of pushing for a vote of confidence against Ahmad Faizal. - NST
