PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged the PAS Syura Council and the central committee to immediately take a decision.PETALING JAYA: Leaders of PAS have been urged to immediately take a stand on the “rude and uncouth remarks” by its election director Sanusi Nor about the Selangor sultan.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said PAS should take seriously the demand by a member of the Selangor royal court for an apology from Sanusi.
Saifuddin said the Selangor Council of the Royal Court had also lodged a police report, which further reflected the gravity of Sanusi’s remarks against the head of state.
Sanusi, who is also Kedah menteri besar, had reportedly drawn a comparison between the Kedah and Selangor sultans and said the Kedah ruler would not have appointed a “chow kia” (Hokkien for lousy) Amirudin Shari as a menteri besar.
Amirudin is menteri besar of Selangor.
Saifuddin urged the PAS Syura Council and the central committee to make a decision on the “rude and uncouth remarks by Sanusi against the Selangor sultan”.
He told FMT: “It is no longer acceptable for PAS to remain silent, as this may be perceived as an endorsement of Sanusi’s offensive and insulting remarks against the Malay rulers.”
Saifuddin said the episode should serve to all as a warning that politics has limits, and one should not insult the Malay rulers, who are highly respected figures of society.
Yesterday, PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin reminded Sanusi to be mindful of what he says in public.
This evening, council member Emran Kadir of the Selangor royal court said Sanusi’s comments were an insult as the sultan has the prerogative to appoint the menteri besar for the state. - FMT
