Saifuddin has challenged Sanusi to explain whether it was true that he was slapped with the fine in his capacity as the Kedah Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chairman.
"Tonight, I want to ask Sanusi, in his capacity as the MBI chairman did he receive a letter from Datuk Fauzi Mustaffa, the director of Kedah Lands and Mines at the end of last year?," he said.
Saifuddin said the letter demanded MBI to pay a RM500,000 compound for stealing rare earth in Kampung Chong, Sik district.
"The letter dated Oct 4, 2022 was addressed to MBI chairman and the compound was issued under Section 426(1) of the National Land Code.
"The incident was about 2.30pm on Sept 24, 2022 for the theft or rare earth in Kampung Chong, Sik. The letter was signed by Datuk Fauzi Mustaffa," Saifuddin said during his speech at the Jelajah Madani and the launching of Kedah unity state election machinery in Guar Chempedak here.
Saifuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan secretary-general went on lambasting Sanusi: "We appointed him as the MB to run the state, not to become a thief."
He added that he will make more exposures backed by complete documents soon.
"We believe the people in Kedah are smart. Never underestimate the wisdom of the Kedahans.
"With that we hope to win at least 19 seats in the polls to secure simple majority and form the new state government," he said. - NST
