Pas Mulls Demonstration Against Trump
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced his party is planning to hold a demonstration to oppose US President Donald Trump’s attendance at the 47th Asean Summit in Kuala Lumpur next month.
He said the demonstration is aimed at protesting the oppression in Gaza perpetrated by Israel, and backed by the US.
“That’s our plan. This is not about PAS but how Malaysians who love peace are opposed to his (Trump’s) presence,” he told Malaysiakini.
However, Takiyuddin said they have yet to decide on when or where to hold the demonstration.
ADS“Insya-Allah, we will hold the demonstration soon. Perhaps, before he arrives or when he is in town,” the former minister added.

US President Donald TrumpThe decision came on the heels of PAS supremo Abdul Hadi Awang's warning yesterday, who likened the invitation to Trump to “associating with the devil”.
In making the call, Hadi cited Quranic verses and prophetic traditions that caution Muslims against aligning with oppressors, stressing that Trump had openly supported Israel’s military campaigns against Palestinians.
“These crimes have been established by the International Court of Justice and decided upon by the UN Security Council (UNSC).
“Yet the United States not only used its veto to block all such resolutions but also directly supplied Israel with weapons and military aid, at the explicit instruction of Trump.
“Trump is also a great devil who deceives the world, acting as a cruel ‘peacemaker’ by insisting that Palestinians defending their homeland must disarm,” the Marang MP added.
PM unhappy with critics
On Sept 27, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim admonished those questioning the invitation extended to Trump, stressing that Malaysia will use the diplomatic platform to continue voicing concerns over Palestine.

He also said rejecting US relations disregards the economic interests of both the people and the country, particularly in the high-technology export sector.
It should be noted that on Sept 16, an independent inquiry commissioned by the UN Human Rights Council found that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, four of the five genocidal acts found in the 1948 UN Genocide Convention have been carried out in Gaza.
The report called on the international community to end the genocide and take steps to punish those responsible for it. - Mkini
