Pahang Mic Vows To Stand By Bn Until Term Ends
Pahang MIC has assured BN that it will remain part of the coalition until the end of this term.
Party state chief V Arumugam said he had informed Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is also state BN chairperson, of the matter while explaining to him the MIC delegates’ motion to leave BN.
Although the delegates had voted for MIC to quit the coalition and join Perikatan Nasional at the party’s 79th general assembly last week, he reminded that the decision had not yet been finalised.
"MIC president SA Vigneswaran has clarified the matter, that the final decision will be made by the party's CWC (Central Working Committee) members.
ADS"I am also in the CWC, and we have not held a meeting yet to discuss further.
"Regarding the motion, I have informed Wan Rosdy that I will continue to support Pahang BN until the end of this term," he told Malaysiakini last night, at a Deepavali celebration organised by the party’s Baya Besar division.

Pahang MB Wan Rosdy Wan IsmailArumugam further explained that his stance was because he had won his state seat in 2022 on a BN ticket.
The Sabai assemblyperson was also the sole MIC candidate in Pahang during the 15th general election and won the state seat under the Bentong parliamentary constituency with a majority of 96 votes in a three-cornered fight, including against DAP incumbent D Kamache.
Nevertheless, Arumugam also acknowledged that “as a party person,” he would still comply with whatever decision the MIC leadership eventually makes.
No talks with PN
However, he also stated that Pahang MIC has not held any meetings with PN representatives to discuss the party's direction.
"If it is just a meeting during the state assembly sitting, that's normal... but to discuss (joining PN), never.
"I am still with BN because the state government has helped (Pahang MIC) a lot.
"So, I think what the (MIC) president said about the assemblyperson who won using the BN ticket needing to remain (supporting BN) until the end of the term, is clear enough," he added.

Arumugam said efforts to restore relations between MIC and Umno are also underway, welcoming the recent statements on the matter from Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan and BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir.
On Nov 18, it was reported that Mohamad said BN will hold discussions with MIC’s top leadership after the Sabah polls, to address any misunderstanding regarding the party’s position within the coalition.
ADSMohamad also expressed confidence that MIC will make the best decision based on their long-term close relationship.
Arumugam also appeared positive.
"Maybe after the Sabah state election, we can sit down and have coffee together to discuss this matter more thoroughly," he said.
The MIC leader emphasised that he would continue giving full and undivided support to Pahang BN, while waiting for the Sabah polls to conclude. - Mkini
