Over 563 Million E Invoices Processed As Rollout Expands

GEORGE TOWN: More than 563 million electronic invoices (e-invoices) have already been processed by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) as its rollout enters Phase Three.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said that some 104,000 taxpayers have adopted the system since Phase One, with an additional 130,000 expected to join when Phase Four begins in January.

“We are now in Phase Three, where businesses with an annual turnover of RM5mil and above must comply with e-invoicing requirements," he told a press conference at the Mega E-Invoice Tour Series 2 at the LHDN office here on Monday (Sept 22).
"Starting January, companies with turnover of between RM1mil and RM5mi; will join under Phase Four.
"We want to make sure small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are ready and have clear, practical knowledge.
"For any issues, taxpayers can contact LHDN, which is always ready to assist," he added.
He said the Mega Tour was designed to give SMEs hands-on guidance, with on-site sessions and online programmes to demonstrate how to use the e-invoicing system.
Amir Hamzah also addressed questions on the RON95 fuel subsidy scheme, which will be implemented on Sept 30.
He said the government had introduced safeguards to prevent misuse, particularly by foreigners.
“Eligibility covers all Malaysians aged 16 and above who hold a valid driving licence, with a monthly quota of 300 litres.
"For e-hailing and p-hailing drivers, there is flexibility to apply for higher quotas, provided their companies verify the need," he said.

He noted that the system enables monitoring of daily and monthly fuel purchases, and cross-checks with e-hailing operators to confirm genuine usage.
On the readiness of fuel stations ahead of the Sept 30 launch, Amir Hamzah said preparations had begun late last year.
"All oil companies have confirmed readiness. Their machines have been upgraded, and systems have been activated at both counters and pumps.
"We believe preparations are sufficient," he said.
All the same, he urged consumers to be patient if minor glitches arise in the initial phase.
Amir Hamzah also disclosed that more than 13 million Malaysians had redeemed the RM100 Sara cash assistance as of Saturday (Sept 20). - Star
