Outgoing Deputy Igp Noor Rashid Sheds Tear In His Last Speech

Outgoing deputy inspector-general of police Noor Rashid Ibrahim shed tears when delivering his last speech during a handover of duty ceremony today

Speaking at Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur, he recalled his first day in the service 35 years ago. But while recalling his time in the force, tears started to well up
"I have tried to keep my emotions under control today but I was so choked up. When I passed by the field (just now), I saw many officers and members undergoing training
"This is a huge honour to me and to my students. (This) is something I could never dream of before," he said, referring to the members and officers who waited for his arrival in the morning and accompanied him to Dewan Tan Sri Abdul Khalid, where the handover of duty was held
"I am very emotional, I have tried to control (my emotions). I thought I am strong but now I know (better); at this moment, I become emotional," he said, wiping his tears
Noor Rashid, 61, who retires officially on March 17, will be replaced by Ahmad Hamid Bador, who once headed the Special Branch in Bukit Aman
He was promoted as the deputy inspector-general of police in 2014. Before that, he headed the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department
Noor Rashid, who hails from Yan, Kedah, began his police career as assistant superintendent of police. He was later promoted as Sungai Petani district crime investigation head, Seberang Perai Tengah OCPD and Sabah police commissioner.
Talking about his retirement plan, he said he wants to start farming and write about his experience in the force and the sacrifices made by the police
"I want to thank the officers who were working together with me and ready to advise me. Sometimes I am known as a tough and strict man but this is for the sake of (you) all and the force," he added
"I want to see officers in the RMP (Royal Malaysia Police) able to face any challenges. I want you all to be respected," he said.  - Mkini
