(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Opposition assemblymen in Pahang have yet to receive any allocations from the state government since it was formed after the general election in November, claims a PAS leader.
Pahang PAS chief Rosli Abdul Jabar said opposition assemblymen have been using their own wages and party contributions to help their constituents for the past nine months.
The Tanjung Lumpur assemblyman added that they have resorted to other initiatives to fund their activities, including mobilising teams to raise funds, to ensure their constituents can be taken care of.
“Up till now we have not received any form of funds from the state government, despite the instructions of the Pahang regent.
“For now, all expenditures as an assemblyman, including office rental, staff salaries and contributions to the community, are paid for using our allowances as assemblymen and contributions from party members,” he told FMT.
In May, when opening the Pahang state assembly, the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, urged the state government to provide fair allocations to opposition assemblymen.
He said there was a need for more mature politics in the state’s political landscape after 66 years, adding that all assemblymen, whether with the government or opposition, had been elected by the people.
In GE15, Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional each won 17 state seats in Pahang, while Pakatan Harapan won eight. BN and PH later formed the state government, after the two coalitions formed the federal unity coalition with East Malaysian parties. - FMT
