Nurul Izzah Let S Focus On Improving Messaging Economic Schemes

Former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar has urged her party and coalition to respond to the rising support for PAS by improving its communication mechanisms and resolving the people’s economic woes.
"In addition to confronting and fighting the politics of extremism and corruption that continue to hamper efforts to implement the reform agenda, we must be active to ensure the economy improves for the people and that we can inspire and meet the needs of young people and women.
"The fact is, PAS has succeeded in piercing the hearts of our young people; and I admit that I was wrong because I did not want the state elections to be held together with the general election.
“Doing both together can generate the necessary momentum to achieve the maximum turnout,” she said on her Instagram.
Nurul Izzah added that the campaigning for the state polls had also taken the government’s time from focusing on its newly launched initiatives recently.
“Focus was taken away from the Civil Economy planning implementation process; National Energy Transition Plan; progressive wage initiative and National Industrial Planning which are important in developing the economy.

"Furthermore, I joined the chorus of insistence that the government's communication agency be strengthened so that the initiatives, successes and noble efforts of the unity government reach the people directly,” she said.
The PKR leader added that people still seem to be in the “pandemic frame of mind”, where voters are still anxious about the economy and cost of living.
This thinking prevails, Nurul Izzah added, despite statistics showing a decrease in inflation.
Address the people’s woes
"Don't forget, the battle will come later - so the quest to win hearts and listen to the people continues!" she added.
The Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency had been represented by her father Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, her mother Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Nurul Izzah, for a total of nine terms since Anwar was first elected in 1982.
Anwar’s father, Ibrahim Abd Rahman was MP for Seberang Perai Central from 1959 to 1969 - which also overlaps with Permatang Pauh.
However, the family stranglehold ended in GE15 when Nurul Izzah was defeated by PAS’ Fawwaz Jan and it was followed up this weekend by PN’s wins in Seberang Jaya, Penanti and Permatang Pasir, which are the three state seats within Permatang Pauh.
Overall, however, the Pakatan Harapan-BN alliance won 29 seats in the 40-member state assembly while the PN coalition won 11 seats.
On the state polls results, Nurul Izzah said she was proud of the hardwork put in by Harapan-BN candidates.
She added that although voter transfer dynamics between both coalitions could be improved, the pact has managed to build a bridge together.
"Every election result is sure to produce an impact followed by mixed feelings; surprise, gratitude, sadness, but in the end, always accompanied by a process of reflection and acceptance.
“Even so, we need to continue our efforts and learn from the latest episode," she added, while thanking volunteers and voters for supporting the coalition.
"We won in three states and became the opposition (except in the state of Terengganu) in the other two.
“Clearly, the time interval of a few months, combined with current macroeconomic and psychological factors, was not enough time to erode the existing ‘Green Wave’ sentiment.” - Mkini
