Noh Omar And Rais Yatim S Son Appointed To Bersatu Supreme Council
Noh Omar is a former Selangor Umno chief, while Danni Rais is the son of a former Senate president.
PETALING JAYA: Former Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar has been appointed to the Bersatu Supreme Council alongside Danni Rais, the son of former Senate president Rais Yatim.
Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali said the appointments were made by party president Muhyiddin Yassin following the top leadership’s first meeting of the year.
Muhyiddin also appointed Jeram assemblyman Harrison Hassan, Sarawak Perikatan Nasional chief Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian and former Bertam assemblyman Khaliq Mehtab Ishaq to the council.
“We are confident that the combination of young, experienced and professional leaders will help strengthen the party’s organisation,” Azmin said in a statement today.
Azmin, who is also Perikatan Nasional secretary-general, said the Bersatu Supreme Council also discussed the coming Sabah state elections, which must be held this year.
“Bersatu is holding discussions and engagements with various parties and stakeholders in Sabah, to study the areas we need to focus on and prepare our manifesto for the people of Sabah,” he added.
He said the Supreme Council was also briefed on the activities and direction of Bersatu’s youth, women’s and associate wings.
However, he did not touch on the recent resignation of three Bersatu Youth executive councillors from various bureaus under the wing.
Last week, Wan Meor Safwat Naqiuddin Shamsudin resigned as the wing’s professional and volunteer bureau chief, citing disagreements with Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham.
Hilman hit back at Wan Meor, who remains a Bersatu exco member, saying his party colleague should just hand over his duties and pipe down since his term is over. - FMT
