No Law To Label Fitri A Paedophile Says Cop
GOMBAK: The law doesn’t have a clear definition on the subject of paedophilia, according to Bukit Aman Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations (D11) Division assistant director Siti Kamsiah Hassan
In the case of Nur Fitri Azmeer Nordin, who was convicted for possession of child pornography, police had labelled him a sexual offender instead of a paedophile as possession of pornographic materials is considered a sexual offence
Bukit Aman Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations (D11) Division assistant director Siti Kamsiah Hassan.“I did not say he is a paedophile. Whether he is a paedophile or not, police don’t know the truth but we consider him a sex offender. Possession of pornographic videos involving children is a sexual offence.”She said that while there are no laws specifically targetting paedophiles, Fitri’s offence shows that he is oriented towards sexual acts on children.“I am not defending Fitri, but I want to make his position clear. He did not attack children sexually, but he was caught keeping and downloading child porn. Nevertheless, every crime has its punishment,” she said
