No Individual Bigger Than The Party Says Mat Hasan

Umno’s stance must reflect the struggles and aspirations of the rakyat, said deputy president Mohamad Hasan after the Malay party withdrew support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
He also stressed that no individual was bigger than the party and the people.
“No figure is more important than the party and the people. There is no power greater than the power of the people.
“No struggle is more meaningful than the struggle for the common people and the vulnerable,” Mohamad (above) said in a statement today.
His statement came amid uncertainty on whether Umno’s 38 MPs will adhere to the supreme council's decision to withdraw support for Muhyiddin.
The majority of Umno lawmakers are believed to be aligned to Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Hishammuddin Hussein, who were promoted as deputy prime minister and senior minister, respectively yesterday.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in announcing the decision to withdraw support, said Muhyiddin should resign immediately to make way for an interim prime minister.
He said the decision was made because the government had failed to tackle the pandemic or meet the people’s needs, among other reasons.
In his statement, Mohamad said the country was in dire straits.
“When the healthcare system is getting worse, the economy deteriorating, poverty on the rise, suicide attempts increasing, hunger becoming a reality, flags of white, black and all colours being flown, democracy being corrupted... Umno cannot be part of this regression.
“Umno must breathe with the people's plight, not power and position.
“Umno’s nature is that it is a party for the majority and the common people so, for them, Umno must speak up and fight,” he said. - Mkini
